Great conversation! It is wonderful to hear Stephen point out that we all can be a bit narcissistic when we get upset over perceptions that our freedoms or rights are being trampled on because someone misspeaks when addressing our names or pronouns. There are so many small everyday instances when we can choose to take offense or conversely, attempt to understand or view the circumstance in a more neutral way.

This was 4 years ago??? I just saw you this last weekend in Something Rotten. I just want to say that when you were on stage, no one else mattered. I just had to look you up and tell you how you can steal the show with your talent and your presence. There are many good actors on Canada's stage, but only a few stand out and make you say "Why isn't he or she world renowned?" Can't wait to see you again in your next role.

To interpret the Ancient words of The Mahayana This is a topic that needs consideration , not everyone has the opportunity to translate great works. All timeless stories, books need to be honoured by those interpreting. Interpreting from a purely logical perspective will miss all the other perspectives of the audience who Are there to stop thinking 🤔 for a while.

Absolutely, Stephen. Let the audience work out and make sense of the moral of the myths, legends, and fables without spoon-feeding, lecturing or sermonizing them. I too have rewritten and retold and elaborated on the Jataka Tales with the aim of improving the poor and watered-down English translation (and have removed the awful karmic moral at the end). Interested? I should gladly share my work.

Are you familiar with Eberhard Zangger's work "The Flood from Heaven"? His demythifying Atlantis and of the Deluge(s) and of the expurgated and warped knowledge of history (possibly to drown the traumas we suffered, but also to veil the next cyclic cataclysms, namely that which is to come in 2040 as Jason Breshears will unveil)? Worth looking into Archaix.

“Exceedingly funny, aren’t we, Pickering?” Higgins is such a smart-aleck, you know he is enjoying acting up to this ultra-vanity, and faux incomprehension as to why women aren’t sufficiently like a man (eg Pickering) to love him 🧐? Very amusing emphasis of Higgins’ titanic male ego. Perhaps a bit of a parody, but many men, even brilliant ones, are after all a bit of a wanker. Especially in their expectations that women will simply stop and congratulate their Radiant Genius. Trouble is, he probably does think that all men are such chums on the same wavelength (about the 18 to 20cm band), that they do automatically admire him. Still, in the end, both Eliza and the Prof are very adamant types, who in the quirkiest way come to respect and love each other from top to bottom.

The director says "There is no point in doing it the OLD Way." Oh, REALLY? Did he see the 1938 film version of "PYGMALION" with Wendy Hiller & Leslie Howard? A film of its time, set in 1914, and absolutely timeless!! Shaw is making an astringent commentary on the hypocrisy of the social classes. When Lerner & Loewe transformed it into "MY FAIR LADY", they didn't set it in 1956. Shaw's time period was good enough, and even making a musical, they respected the material. This director comes off as arrogant as Henry Higgins, and far worse, CLUELESS AND misguided. I hope to never see a production like this.
